Custom-Fit

An extra table leaf + the base of an old patio table
spray painted black and attached to the top
with conduit clamps
equals a table custom-fit to a space on our stairway landing.
(My wife wants to state for the record that she has "edited"
the display significantly since this photo was taken.)

 This one, custom-made.
34" high (a little taller than normal).

 Finished.

Similar but Different

Though very much like the one shown finished in the prior post,
I had to construct legs for this one.
I need to fill in the gap  inside the leg seen below....
...and here is the outside of a leg.  I've filled in the crack.
It will be painted so all I had to do was sand it smooth.

The Latest

Encouraged by the quick sale of two other sofa tables,
and eager to use up some spare furniture parts (table legs, in this case)
and scrap lumber, I set about to construct yet another table.
Above: fastening boards for the bottom shelf.
Here, the finished piece which sold within hours of being listed!

Finish and Start-Up

After the way THIS one turned out
(fashioned from a free round table),
I decided to use the other half-round as a topper for a gate-leg frame
that has been sitting in our garage for a l-o-n-g time.

I removed the gate-legs and set about to fill the holes
they folded into....
 Below, patch in place.
Below - the completed patch,
and here, the table top - sanded and ready to stain and attach.

Recycle/Reuse

This table top has been sitting in a corner of our garage for awhile.
I sawed off a part of the blue cart to place the table top on.
This left a small strip which MIGHT be recycled as a sofa table top!
Next step:  Glue and screw the top to the cart.
Finished product expected soon!

The End

Completed - and NICE!  Very nice!
This is "the end" of the coffee table...
Well, not actually.  Still have 4 legs...

Sofa Table 2

Finally!  While driving through a neighboring town
on "Big Trash Day", we found a discarded table.
I salvaged the legs (the top was warped beyond repair)
and attached them to the 1/2 round to make a second "sofa-table".
Watch for how we finish it!
(Compare it to the one made out of the other 1/2 round here.)

Console Table

A few weeks ago, we found an oval coffee table.  We didn't need a coffee table, but I liked the legs on it and thought I might be able to use them in remodeling a piece of furniture in the future.  My wife suggested we cut the top in half to make two console tables.  And so our search began for 8 legs to use for the two tables.  The first legs were created from a baby bed that we found tossed out with someone's trash.  (The remains shown below).
I turned the half-round table over and began to figure out a way to attach the legs to its underside.  I also decided to incorporate the original coffee table's apron into the new console table.
Today I finished the assembly and have sanded down the table.
It is awaiting a decision about what color to paint it!  I'm pretty pleased with the result.

Sweet and Demure

Sweet and demure
are the words my wife uses in describing this table.
It really DID turn out great!

I'm Back!

After several weeks "off" due to quadruple bypass surgery,
I'm back!
Mixed some cream paint with some white and applied a coat to this table.

The Projects are Mounting

The garage continues to fill up with projects!
I plan to convert this sewing machine cabinet into an "occasional table"...
and this china cupboard will be repaired
and probably painted.
(Glass in one of the doors needs to be replaced.)
I've removed the piece on the top of the bottom part
because it was warped.
I replaced it with these boards (below) which should add some character

In the Works

The price was right on this old school teacher's desk!
I went to work stripping the old finish...
and stained it (above, a comparison of stain on one end
with the unstained top).
Also in the works....a solid table found curbside.
It has a lot of distress on the top.  I've hand-sanded it
and still can't remove the scratches...so we're thinking "keep it distressed"!

Progress on the WorkBench/Table

I removed the top of the 8' work table
and decided to turn it upside down
(the underside had fewer "problems").
After squaring up the base,
I applied the first coat of paint - an Oops Paint - pale grey.
After quite a bit of sanding, I applied a stain
to the table's top - "Brazil Nut" .

I think it will be a great color contrast to the painted legs.
Above - table with first coat of polyurethane on top.

Another End

This is the "End Product" of the table shown
in the rough in the previous post.
We left the distress marks in the table top.
(We think it adds unmistakeable character and charm.)
