When "Oops" is a Good Thing

We walked into the store thinking "pale grey"
and were delighted to find
this "oops" can of good paint!
I mixed my own chalk paint and went to town.
I'll sand and put second coat on and decide what to do with the inside today...

Let the Games Begin!

Purchased off Craig's List, we carried it home in two pieces...

...certainly not without flaws!

My first major approach was to fashion this bottom/top
which will connect the two pieces.
Next?  Fill in the gap seen at the back of the top part above.

A Project Finds a Home!

It's good to know that many of my completed projects
find their way into some great room arrangements!
This dresser is in a nursery and should find multiple uses
in the years to come!

Cedar Chest Repair

I'm refinishing a cedar chest for friends.
A nice, veneered finish was somewhat hidden by a dark stain.
Below - the newly fashioned lid replacing the original warped one...
Ready for stain & hinges, etc.

Then There were Two

I used gloss Krylon spray paint and primer for the first time
to finish the second of two benches, above.
My wife selected the color.
Below is the first one I made from a discarded crib.
It will be donated to a silent auction at our church later this month.

Winter Wonders

Recent projects completed while cleaning up (and out)
my work space in our garage..
Painted the quilt rack & the adjustable height desk (below),
and created the 3 "trees" to "plant" in yard/garden spots this spring.
and from these bed rails....

 This!
All it needs is a coat of paint.

While Reorganizing....Part 2

The legs of this bench/coffee table had been cluttering my work space for quite awhile--
as had the wooden grate.
So, in between organizational tasks, I put them together
this way.
I applied a white paint "wash" over the grate and left the legs "as were".

One + One = New

While reorganizing my workspace in the garage,
I found a 1/2-table top and some legs withOUT a top.
Decided to put the two together.  The 1/2 top will work best positioned against a wall.
I added an "apron" along the back to finish it off a bit.
Homemade chalk paint should make it pretty!
My wife would like a little gold gilding on the table's "toes".
We'll see.

Oh Christmas Tree

Inspired by a couple of Pinterest ideas from my wife's account,
I used scraps left over from the Christmas gift project
to make this rustic "tree".
Not sure if we'll print words on the slats, paint, etc.
but I now have used up two complete cabinet doors!

Chest of Drawers Remodel

A vintage Kroehler chest of drawers....sanded (above)
and, as of this evening, primed.
One coat of off-white paint has been applied
with the second planned for tomorrow.
Then the trim pieces will be attached and it will be ready to GO!
Found, reasonably priced, at a garage sale this past autumn.

Christmas Gifts & A Solution

I've been busier than my blog posts might indicate...
Tonight I finished these three chalkboard units.
I made them from samples of cabinet doors I had stored in our shed
 just waiting to use SOMEhow.
I took them apart, salvaged some parts
(including what I used for hangers),
taped off the "frames" and applied chalkboard paint (spray).
The hooks came from various sources
and were stored in drawers in my garage.
I'll need to "restock the store"!
And this (above) is my solution to my wife's problem...
another project completed.

The House is Full

 Finished (and willing to sell)...
The House is Full!
Sanded, used a natural stain to preserve the original finish, and covered with satin poly.  Nice desk with two file-sized drawers.

Create & Fix

Jesus' birth into a carpenter’s family was no accident.
Carpenters create new things and fix broken things.

November Projects

 Two new projects waiting restoration.
I'll try to preserve the light oak finish on the sturdy desk above
while applying chalk paint to the dresser below.
First there are a couple of drawer issues that need my attention.
That completed, let the painting begin!
It certainly brings out the intricate design of this piece.
