(Re)Born on the 4th of July

Sanded and did some wood fill repair on a couple of spots before painting this $2 garage sale find.
It cured over night and stands "in place" in our kitchen/dining area to hold cookbooks and other treasures.

I didn't notice the irregularities at first.  And only after moving it into the house did I see one!  (See the bottom, right-hand corner & the left vertical line...)

  1. No matter, it still looks great. You guys
find the neatest things for nearly nothing!

  2. Gary, this reminds me of a wooden shelf that has been in my family for at least sixty years. It was a project(as I understand) of one of my then young uncles. It too has irregularities but I don't think anyone has ever noticed. They've been painted over many, many times over the years. Both of my children used them as book shelves at one time or another and I am using them now in my living room to hold books.

I love those shelves that you redid and they will be perfect for cookbooks. I somehow doubt anyone will notice the imperfections!
